Noah watches JJ Redick Shoot on his hoop
Ava plays wii with Ryan, Noah, and JJJJ Redick and Ryan Anderson are NBA players. They go to our church. They could be doing anything they want on a Tuesday night in the off-season. They took an hour and a half out of their lives tonight to spend it with my kids. Thanks to my brother Isaac and his coordination of this event, Noah got a super cool birthday present and was able to play h-o-r-s-e in our driveway with two of his NBA heroes and Ava got to play wii bowling in the living room with these 2 awesome guys.
They made our kids' night. Ryan brought a pair of his shoes (1 for Noah and 1 for Ava) and signed them. I must say, size 17 shoes are big. JJ signed 2 hats (one for each kid). It means a lot to us as parents that these guys would take their time to care about our kids. We are blessed beyond measure that people have reached out from all over the world to help in this time of struggle for our family.
Our kids were blessed today. Thanks JJ and Ryan. It was an incredible gift that they will remember for a lifetime.
I love JJ! We're such big Duke fans (Magic are great, too!)...yea, what a great visit and encouragement for them! Awesome!

ReplyDeleteThis is so cool that the kids got to hang out with professional basket ball players! You don't get to really see the thoughtfulness in people until something unfortunate happens. Then everyone starts to come together almost like pieces to a puzzle. God puts the right people in your life for specific reasons. It's incredible to look back and see how everything played out. Ava looks amazing BTW!!

ReplyDeleteA few members of our church are doctors. They all came up to me after the services to mention a few doctors who are treating GBM successfully.
If you look up Doug Black from UCLA Med he has actually been able to create some sort of a vaccine that kills off the cells that create this form of cancer. It doesn't work for all but he has had some success.
Also, Children's Hospital at Dartmouth in New Hampshire specializes in cancer in children. They focus solely on curing cancer in kids. A gentleman who is on the board highly recommended that they be look at for Ava. I can get you more info if you would like. Email me. revkev at gccnh dot com
Above all else, know that we are praying for Ava and your entire family. It looks like the kids had a great time last night with some great athletes.

It is amazing how far Ava has come in such a short time. I'm so glad your family was blessed! It's nice that Noah got something so special for his big day.
ReplyDeleteParent's magazine had a little article this month about a foundation started by a 13 year old brain tumor/cancer survivor. I didn't know if you'd like to check it out... it's laurensfirstandgoal.org They offer help for research as well as for families with the costs.
